The History of the Course
Created in 1994 on the initiative of the Faculty of Law and Economic Sciences of the University of Toulouse 1, the “Law and Economy of Insurance” (today the Master 2 Secteur Financier) had for its goal a multi-field study course in insurance to give students of different profiles the chance to work together and to benefit from knowledge in law and economy.
The course was adapted with the passing of years to the evolution of the insurance sector, with the additional interest of banking and financial markets gradually being integrated as from 1999. Continuing this evolution, the range of study included in the Master now covers the whole field of the financial sector (Bank, Assurance,Finance).
At the end of 2004, in accordance with the new European system called “LMD”, this Diploma of Specialized Higher learning became a Master. The transformation of the title of the course conveys correctly the richness and the diversity of its contents.
However, the organization of the new Master remains the same: the students can for example continue to choose between a professional or a research course.
The students who choose the professional path have to do an internship of at least three months within a company. This is concluded by a written report.
The research course, on the other hand, requires in-depth study and the presentation of a thesis.
